Initial thoughts
When I placed the order there was some discrepancies in shipping time. Was pleased the order was received in the 2 days stated in the listing and not the 7-10 days on the received order notification. At this point I've only needed to refill the black cartridge and printed a handful of pages. Can't give it 5 stars just yet.Nice kit which included the gloves (very thin but usable) and "lint" cloth to wipe stray toner off the cartridges. The replacement chips are packaged individually and marked for each color. As for using the kit, instructions are clear. IMO the tool for burning a hole in the cartridge is too large in dia but suspect this is a common tool used on many brands/models of printers. These cartridges don't have a very large flat area for placing the hole thus a portion of the hole was on a curved surface and IMO making the operation a little harder than need be. The tool uses what appears to be a std copper end cap for copper pipe. I'll be replacing the cap with a smaller 3/8" dia cap available at any hardware store. As you burn the hole, some of the melted plastic is displaced leaving a ridge around the hole, not good for sealing. I used a very sharp tool to remove the ridge. I'd also suggest you cut back on the funnel some to increase the hole dia. Easy does it for adding the new toner. As you get near the end of the toner you sometimes get a puff of air if you are squeezing the bottle slightly and that causes toner to spray out of the fill hole. I suggest as you get near the end of the bottle to tap the funnel on the side of the fill hole to help get all the toner out of the bottle. The adhesive backed foil provided for sealing the fill hole leaves a little to be desired. Appears to have been cut using a paper cutter & is oversized. You should "iron" out the wrinkles on the foil to help insure a good leak proof seal. Going to a smaller filler hole size will make it a little easier to seal around the hole and the curved surface. Oh, make sure the surface is clean, I used alcohol to wipe the surface. If the surface is not clean, that can hinder the adhesion of the tape.As to replacing the chips. I did this first before getting into the "messy" part of the job. The original chips are held in place by 2 small plastic posts molded on either side of the chip and then mushroomed over to restrain the chips. I use a very sharp knife to removed the "mushroom" and then the chips came out easily. Have noticed a few other commenting on the double sided foam tape being a little large. The tape in the kit I received was rect in shape and if I oriented the tape so the long side was orientated vert when looking at the cartridge sitting on a table, it fit nicely without any trimming necessary. When done I cleaned off the cartridge, reinserted into the printer and gave it a try. Didn't know what to expect as this was the first time from refilling this printer. Printer went through a number of operations automatically and when finished, the toner icon showed the black cart was reading full. For the test pages, text only, text was clear and black color dense.May come back after I need to refill the color cartridges and have some experience on the toner performance.

Really Works as Advertised
SUMMARY:This products works as advertised. All the parts and supplies were included. Price is very good, especially when compared to new toner cartridges. I will definitely purchase again.DETAILS:I ordered the product via Amazon on Thursday, Oct. 28th and received it in a single box via USPS Priority Mail on Monday, Nov. 1st. By the way, I didn't ask for any special shipping. The box contained everything that I needed including eight (8) plastic gloves and four (4) cloths to help keep everything clean. Thank you, Toner Eagle, for including enough gloves for all four toner refills. There were four different plastic containers with replacement toner powder with nice dispensing caps and cap covers. Each toner container was sealed like a new ketchup container where you have to peel off the flexible lid under the cover before you can use it.The melting tool is small, easy to use, and works. It runs off 120V AC household current with a standard plug. I tried a battery-powered heat tool before which never did heat up enough. Toner Eagle made a good decision to use an AC-powered heat tool.*** Be careful using the heat tool. When you burn through the bottom of the cartridge to add the new toner (after you shake out any old, unused toner that was still in there), take care not to push the heat tool in more than absolutely necessary. It is quite easy to melt part of the mixing mechanism inside the new toner storage area if one of the mixing leaves just happens to be positioned right where you are burning a hole with the heat tool. Think of the mixing mechanism like an internal blender. One of the mixing leaves was, in fact, positioned on one of my cartridges right where I burned a hole and a small part of that leaf got melted a little. Apparently, the internal mixing leaves are made out of plastic, not metal. It wasn't a big deal, just something to keep in mind. I don't think it's possible to predict where those mixing leaves will be when you start this process. Hope you get lucky. The foil with adhesive, which is used to seal the two (2) holes that you need to burn in the toner cartridge, was a little too big in my opinion. I was worried about the foil overlapping onto parts of the cartridge that looked molded to fit a certain way in the printer. Maybe it didn't matter. Anyway, I just ripped off the excess foil and used only what I thought would fit better. The quality of the toner seems very good. I printed a test page with excellent results. No smearing. No distortions. You will need to blow off or wipe off the incidental extra toner that inevitably will spill out when you empty the old toner from the two different bins and from the toner containers as you fill the cartridges. Maybe when I do this a few more times I will not spill any at all. But, be prepared. Use the gloves and cloths. It's not that big a deal. It cleans up easy. Just don't put a newly refilled cartridge back in the printer before first making sure it doesn't have rogue toner in all the crevices on the outside. Just go outside and blow it off and wipe it down first.*** I had heard horror stories about refill kits causing damage to printers, spilling toner everywhere, and causing serious smears on printed pages. This, so far, has NOT happened to me with this product. I can see how it might if the adhesive foils are not pressed down hard and correctly sealed onto the cartridge when you seal it up after removing the old, unused toner from the supply bin and the used, waste toner from the waste bin (two different bins - that's why you burn two different holes in two different spots). Maybe the writers of those horror stories didn't clean the little extra toner that inevitably spills out during this process from the cartridge itself. The new electronic chips were a small pain to replace, not because of Toner Eagle's product but the original design of the cartridge. The original chips were glued into place in between molded plastic pieces on the top and sides of the chip. The top plastic piece is thin and will break easily when you pull out the original electronic chip with tweezers or pliers. Then you just put the double-sided spongy tape on the back of the new chip and press it down in between the remaining plastic pieces on the left and right of the chip. Keep note that you might encounter a little bit of glue from the original chip that makes this job harder. I was never able to press down the new replacement chip as far as the original chip was due to extra leftover glue from the original chip and the plastic pieces which got distorted a little when I ripped out the old original chip. But, apparently I was able to press the new chip down enough to connect when the cartridge got inserted, and it worked. This is the only part that made me nervous. I didn't want to press down too hard and bend or break the new chip. I used a knife to help clear away any extra glue that I could and widen the plastic pieces a little to help accept the new replacement chip. There are no electronics on the cartridge (that I could see) which connected to the chip. The chip electronically connects only to the printer when the toner cartridge gets inserted for use. So, I didn't have to worry about scraping away anything too delicate on the toner cartridge when I widened the plastic pieces in preparation for the new chip.As this was my first attempt ever at toner refilling, it took me 45 minutes for one cartridge. But, I took my time, studied the design of everything as I went, reread the instructions a few times just in case, and didn't have the best lighting or tools (needle-nose pliers) ready to go. The next time should take me 20 minutes or less per cartridge.By the way, HP can go fly a kite now. I will never again pay $80+ for a new cartridge when this refill kit works.I gave it five (5) stars because it shipped quickly, it works and works well, and there are enough extras like EIGHT gloves to make the process that much easier.I'll post back if anything changes or a disaster occurs. If you don't hear from me, then all is well and this product rocks.
