This leather case is a great feeling case....I love the way it feels! And it looks great! I mean, that is if you don't look at the bright color of the blue phone showing through the back. The buttons on the side are nice and responsive. Overall it is a great case, except for one flaw.Since another review mentioned this as well, I don't think it is a defective product, it seems to be a design flaw. The case sticks up over the edge of the phone enough to protect the screen....on the top part of the screen, but not near the bottom. When you get to the bottom of the case, it is just barely flush with the screen so it wouldn't protect it at all. If you will look at my photos, you can see what I am referring too. If they would fix this design flaw...it would be a 5 star case in my opinion.

Like many others, I was disappointed by Apple's decision to not release a leather case for the XR/11. Going forward, it seems like the leather cases will be reserved for their most premium models. I bought their Black Leather Case for the 6 Plus and Saddle Brown for the 7 Plus. Reading user reviews online, it seemed that this Toovren case, Mujjo, and Nomad were the best alternatives on the market. There are plenty of knockoff cases on eBay but they're made of PU leather. I decided to try this Toovren out and am very satisfied so far. The leather is much more rigid and tough compared to the soft European leather on the Apple OEM. Time will tell if this case develops patina. However, it feels great in the hand and the metallic buttons are clicky and responsive. Also, it seems like they addressed the issue of the case being flush with the screen (as some other reviews pointed out). I want to also mention that I bought the official OEM Apple Clear Plastic Case for my XR and it was by far the worst case I have ever used. Swapping out with this Toovren case was a godsend.

[ SEP 30 — UPDATE ]Rating increased from 3- to 4-stars.PRO (new) — The vegan leather has "broken in" nicely, and is much less slippery now. Took less than 2 days of typical use.CON (new) — Precision/tolerances in build-quality could be better — the external volume-up button is misaligned (see photo), but it doesn't affect functionality in any way.DEALBREAKER (update) — after 48 hours of leaving it out on the front porch to off-gas, and wiping it down a few times with a Sodium Hypochlorite cleaning solution, the petroleum/chemical odor is completely gone. This is a great (actual) leather case that feels good in the hand, offers protection, and doesn't add hardly anything to the footprint of the phone.The lip around the edges is a tad on the small side, but it's definitely sufficient and should prevent your screen from touching surfaces when lying face down. The port cutouts are good - nothing missing here. The feel in the hand is very nice. It's not too rough and not too smooth. The buttons are very tactile and have a high-quality finish.

The media could not be loaded.  Amazon was a bit late getting this case to me (even though I pay for prime) so I just got it today.Have to say though I am pretty impressed. The case came in a nice wooden box (hurray for less plastic) and the case looks pretty good. It definitely has that ‘new leather’ smell so I assume that it is real leather.I saw a couple reviews before buying that the case didn’t cover the sides of the phone on the bottom, but this was not the case with me (pictures included). It definitely feels a little bit stiff, but I assume like a good pair of leather boots it just needs to be broken-in a little. The leather comes above the screen and the camera so they are not contacting a surface when laid down or dropped. The case DOES leave the bottom of the phone uncovered, but like shown in the pictures the case will prevent the bottom of the phone from making contact if dropped.Another important thing to consider when buying a case...the buttons! Who doesn’t love to preserve those crisp clicks. Haha. This case does a pretty good job at it. The power button was a little stiff, but after messing with it a little bit that crisp click came back lol.Over-all this is a nice case. I would recommend it to friends...and if it were $5 less at $20 I would even recommend it to my mother haha.

It seems that the case really is leather. Unlike so many listings that try to fool you into thinking they are using genuine leather. The case is a perfect fit and looks great.

If it gets wet at all, the phone case will bleed all over your furniture. Be warned.
