Known throughout Asia and Pacific Rim, the Bolo serves as a tool as well as a hunting or fighting knife. This bush knife is also used in the Silat and Eskrima martial arts. The Bolo Machete features a "fat" point that shifts its weight forward where it can do the most good when heavy chopping or slashing is called for. When used as a survival tool, it will open a coconut or chop down a tree with equal ease.

Poor quality control
Bought this to replace a stainless machete blade (it was a gift) that literally chipped apart when I used it on thick brush.Pros-the weight feels good and it handles well in the hand. Will update on durability and effectiveness once I use it. The sheath is decent, although made in China. (Blade is stamped South Africa)Cons- the handle feels like cheap plastic that is sloppily molded with excess plastic on the seam. The blade was VERY poorly and sloppily "sharpened". Overhang of metal filings the whole way up the blade from over doing one side. Looks worse in person than the pics. The lower part of the blade feels almost serrated from how sloppy it is. May be a great blade after I clean it up, but it needs completely resharpened I don't feel like I should have to do that out of the box. Would have been better if it was shipped dull instead having to fix CS messing up their own blade. Makes me second-guess the overall quality of the product. In summary, I was originally leaning towards the OKC machete and think I should have gone with my gut. I have read about QC issues before with Cold Steel but figured I'd try them out. Probably the last product of theirs I'll buy.

Not what you expect
Description is wrong it's labeled as 65mn carbon steel NOT 1055, also is MADE IN CHINAblade is bent and has a slight twist, alot flimsier than you think feels like a cheap Walmart machete. Handle is real small and slick wants to twist in your hand when you swing it down. Definitely not what I expected from cold steel*Update. Took it out to try and the handle shattered chopping at a big branch the blade held up way better than expected before that tho

Great blade for its price range
After filing the coating from the edge and a little sharpening, this thing definitely gets the job done. Feels good in the hand and has enough front end weight to get a good swing with minimal effort. Very happy with the purchase.
