Otherwise excellent charger but in 2016 still heavily overpriced & lacks illuminated display.
I'm a photographer and before purchasing this one I used multiple Duracel & Energiser chargers that took only 4 batteries at once. As you can imagine eventually I wanted a solution that would allow me to charge more batteries with one go and at the time this one had the best reviews. So what are my thoughts on it? Well I have now used it almost two years and can say it does the job well. You can charge any number of individual AA and AAA batteries at any given time and you can always see the status of the charge from the display. However I do wish the display had a background light since it can be very difficult to read especially if you are charging batteries in a room that doesn't have that much light.Considering that today (in 2016) there are similar chargers out there that aren’t only cheaper, but also have illuminated displays, £50 for this particular charger fells like a total rip-off. Even though the device comes in a very impressive cardboard box (= with a lot of cool advertising words that kind of make you feel that you just made a good investment), the device itself turns out be to quite a let down; it looks very cheap and doesn't feel at all like it's been made any quality materials other than cheap plastic. Trust me, when you are holding it in your hand you would never think this should be sold for more than £20 in retail! So overall this charger does what it promises and some of it’s features (like conditioning) can really be useful for some of us. However I would not buy this one again today for the price of £50 when there are cheaper alternatives with similar or even better features out there. For example “FlePow 12 Bay charger” can even take 4 extra batteries on top of what this one can, it has an illuminated display and currently it sells at Amazon for the price of £22,99.If you currently need a charger I would recommend getting that FlePow charger instead and if you really need a charger with some of the advanced features this one has (like conditioning, deep-discharge etc.) then get a separate 4-slot charger just for that. That way you will still spend less than what this charger sells for and you will be able to charge double the amount of batteries with those two separate devices.

A must!!!
One day i was not doing much and was mucking about with my camera gear and thought its about time i charged up the batteries i hadnt used for a long time! So i got the charges out and put 4 in each one and started them of. Well since i had several hours to kill i went a bit geeky and searched the web for the solution to the time takes to charge batteries up. Having done that found that not only were the chargers that i had purchased with the batteries not doing the job properly but i could cut the time down drastically. i found out that the charger that i had would charge all 4 batteries up to the first one to charge fully first, meaning that the other 3 would not be full charged and when in use the item i was using them in would stop working when the power in the less charged unit would run out therefor reducing the time i could use it for and in turn not getting the best out of the batteries.Thats where this little gem comes in to play, a separate curcuit for each battery means all are charge to the same power meaning you get the best out of each battery not just he less powered one, plus this has a conditioning feature which as they advise you to do every 10 charges to get the best from your rechargables and ive cut the charging down to two hours instead of 6+. Great bit of kit worth every penny to get the best out of your batteries!!!!!!!!!!

Makes life so much easier!
I've had this charger for about 12 months now, it's excellent.Prior to that I limped along with the stock wall wart Eneloop charger which takes about 12 hrs to charge x4 AA regardless how much juice the batteries have in them. This charger is great, it's quick, simple and has everything you need.A few niggles, not enough to lose a star but worth knowing:1) No on/off button.2) It uses a DIN style charger so If you lose it or goes down, it's a specialist replacement.3) The LCD is tricky to see unless you are in a well lit room and eye level, no backlight.Haven't had to use the conditioning feature yet but would have confidence it would go without a hitch.Just refreshed all 24 of my eneloops which were at various stages of charge, done the whole lot in the 3hrs thats to the charge slots being independent, and that was on the more gentle soft charge.A note regarding the clicking people ask about, i can just about hear it if get on my hands and knees and am i right next to the charger, bit of a non issue IMHO.

Excellent product
This is an expensive item but you really do get what you pay for. If you have 8 or more rechargeable batteries (AA) then this would be an ideal purchase. I recently purchased a battery grip which took 8 AA batteries taking my total batteries in use up to 16. I was using a cheap charger from 7 Day Shop which was OK but not very fast at all. It would take around 6 hours to charge 4 batteries.I read many reviews and decided to purchase this even though it is expensive. When it arrived, with a British charger (ordered my item from Maplins) I plugged it in and charged 8 batteries. This took at most 2 hours and this wasn't on the fast charge. As I said earlier if you need to charge more than 8 batteries then get this. I think it also charges AAA but I don't have any to try.

Wow, solved all my battery charging problems
This was a replacement for a standard Duracell charger which wasn't quite cutting the mustard now we need batteries for toys as well. Fantastic that you can charge an odd number of batteries, anything from 1+, and also a great number of batteries - no longer caught out when 6 are needed! All the batteries are charged individually, I'd put in some supposedly charged batteries and they all gave different readings so I believe this charger is more accurate. I've charged AA and AAA and it works very quickly even on the soft charge. Mine (from Amazon) came with the UK 3 pin plug. Instructions were clear and it's very easy to use. I just wish I'd bought the right rechargeable batteries that hold onto their charge even after months in the drawer, Sanyo Eneloops from now on.
